Persephone.

Apparently it’s going to be one of the top girl’s names in 2013.

Classical names are going to be making a comeback.

Any parent will tell you about the amount of thought that goes into a name.

Sleepless nights. Countless name books from the library.

Every movie you watch or book you read you’re keeping your eyes and ears open.

For that right name.

For the one that captures just what you want it to.

Can’t be too trendy.

Needs to stand-out, but not blend in.

Possibly pay respect to a family member.

Maybe take into account a culture.

Pronounceable.

Choosing a name is not an easy business.

Unless you’re God.

I can’t imagine Him having too many sleepless nights. Deliberating. Or flipping a coin.

Nope. It was easy for God.

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (Matthew 1:23).

Just say it as it is.

Immanuel.

God with us.
