Advent devotions – day 20

I’m sure you’re polite. Well brought-up.

When someone gives you something you say ‘thank-you’.

Yeah, yeah, we all know that.

Maybe you were brought up having to write thank-you letters.

In fact I recently came across an article from a couple of years back. Christmas Day tweets from
people ungrateful for their presents. I couldn’t believe it:

“I can’t believe my mum got me the white iPhone and not the black one”.

“Didn’t get my car so I’m not feeling Christmas”.

For real.

Silly question time – do you say ‘thank-you’ to God at Christmas time?

I don’t mean, do you go and sing some carols. I don’t mean, do you feel good cheer. I don’t mean, do
you have a sense of warmth about you.

I mean do you really Pause. Reflect. Chew over. Meditate upon. Stop. Take time out. And worship.
Praise.

and

say

‘thank-you’.

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
