Alain De Botton, church chat-up lines and how kids sing Robyn

1. Stumbleupon

I always knew there must be more to life than what Google could provide, and here is my affirmation. It’s the good kind of procrastination – the kind that helps you think of creative, interesting and valuable ways to spend life away from the screen. You just have to remember to pull yourself away from the ‘stumble’ button regularly.

2.  Religion for Atheists

A great article on Bethinking.org engaging with the pop-philosopher Alain De Botton’s latest work, Religion for Atheists. My attempts to grasp philosophy are eased by De Botton’s popularisation of the field and his efforts to make it relevant to the public square.

3. Lennon and Maisy

A cover of Robyn’s Call Your Girlfriend, accompanied by butter-pot percussion. They’re 12 and 8 years old.

4. The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness

Timothy Keller’s skinny offering The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness took me 30 minutes to read and I’ve spent all month dwelling on it. Accessible, real and liberating.

5. Hey Christian Girl

A healthy self-ridiculing of the Christian stereotypes we force on each other, accompanied by photographs of attractive chaps.
